My Exhaust Setup

(sound clip coming soon)

Well, after having the Flowmaster 40 muffler on for almost a year now exiting out the stock pipe, I decided to do something different.  I'd actually been thinking about it for a while now, just cause I liked the "stealth" look of no visible exhaust pipe.

Took the truck into Midas, where they put the Flowmaster 40 on there a while back, and asked them what it would take to cut the tailpipe off and dump the exhaust right after the muffler.  He said around $40, depending on how complex it is.  I wasn't so sure about it at first, but he said they could do it right then, and that it wouldn't take but a few minutes, so I decided to go ahead with it.  So, about 15 minutes later, he started it up to back it outta the shop, and WOW, what a different sound.  I really didn't expect that much of a change in the tone, but it sure had changed.

I wasn't sure if I liked it at first.  All it sounded like to me is a big woosh of air coming from under the truck at WOT.  It's grown on me though, and after hearing it from outside the truck, I love it.

The one thing I love about it the most is that I noticed a small performance gain.  I was not expecting this at all, but the response seems to be a little better now.  Guess not having to go through that 4 ft of pipe after the muffler helped it breathe a little easier or changed the backpressure or something.  Anyway, I'm really pleased with this setup.
